“Soul”ful Table Set

I bought 2 packs of charm squares from Amy Butler’s “Soul Blossoms” collection on Etsy a while back.

Amy Butler SOUL BLOSSOMS 5" Fabric Quilting Squares Westminster Fibers

I already made a quilt from a jelly roll of this collection a few years back…

But I really love these fabrics in these colors!!

So, I had to buy a bit more and make something else!!

DSCN3792

The colors and modern design will be a perfect fit in my new house!!

So, I made a set of six simple placemats

and a small table runner.

The backing fabric is a feather print from Martha Negley, another favorite designer!

And these fabrics really begged for some orange, too!

Getting to Know Orange

What do you do with leftover charm squares?

DSCN3773

I have a huge stack of them.

DSCN3774

And lots of them were from different Kate Spain collections…which all coordinate well together.

DSCN3775

So, I matched them up in pairs of one hot color (orange, pink, red, yellow)…

DSCN3776

and one cool color (blue, green, purple).

DSCN3777

I stitched them together a quarter inch on each side of the center diagonal line and cut them into two half-square triangle blocks.

Then I played with them by laying them out on my bed.  And that was the fun part.

I do like what I came up with…

DSCN3791

it’s an off-center design!

I named it “Getting to Know Orange”.

Because I am!

May Schnibbles Done!

I really love this month’s Schnibble called “Gentle Art”.  I’ve always wanted to make a spool quilt,.. haven’t you?

DSCN3765

I used charm squares from the “Summer House” collection!

DSCN3768

I love the bright happy colors, which are exactly what I plan to use in my new sewing room!!

DSCN3766

And of course, I had to change it up a bit… I added a striped middle piece on each spool to look like it was wrapped with thread.

DSCN3769

I also left off three spools and added a pin cushion, scissors and a thimble, and some real buttons, pins and a needle.

DSCN3767

I quilted by stitching  in the ditch around each block and each spool, then I added colored thread to appear as thread coming off each spool.

DSCN3771

I named it “Loose Threads”. I plan on hanging it in my sewing room in the new house!  YAY!!

DSCN3770

Soooo,.. Yogi wants to know what you are sewing on this week??

Moving Right Along!

The house is all framed out now and the roof trusses are up!

may 12 a

The roof wood is on and covered with tar paper…but no shingles yet and the walls are not wrapped yet.

may 12 b

But, it is getting there!!  The inner walls are framed out, so it is really fun to walk through the house now and see each room inside!!

may 12

Next, they will start the plumbing pipes!! Woo hoo!!
