August Schnibble Done!!

(Go HERE for previous post’s givaway!)

I really enjoyed making the Schnibble for this month.

DSCN2839_wm

I’ve not pieced sashing before so it was a new experience!

DSCN2841_wm

A really fun one!  Woo hoo!

DSCN2842_wm

I made it from the “School Days” collection from American Jane.

DSCN2843_wm

So, it fits right in with my September school décor!

DSCN2845_wm

Yogi loves it, too!!

DSCN2847_wm

There’s not a quilt anywhere he doesn’t want to get up on!!

DSCN2849_wm

I like to take the photos out on the deck in natural light, and he loves to snooze out there!!

DSCN2855_wm

Do you like the black rickrack and star buttons I added?

DSCN2857_wm

I wanted some new school themed throw pillows for my couch and two chairs in the family room…

DSCN2858_wm

so, I took some teacher tote bags I had for years and ripped them apart,

DSCN2864_wm

backed them with some fun teacher prints from my stash and made 4 pillows!!

Yogi wants to know what you’ve been up to lately???

Great Granny’s Marmalade

I finished my Great Granny Quilt-a-long quilt top last month…
DSCN2812
but just quilted it yesterday and finished the binding today at bee!!
DSCN2814
I am so glad I decided to use my Marmalade jelly roll for this online quilt-a-long.
DSCN2815
I think it has such a nice vintage feel to the prints that goes so well with the look of the granny blocks!!
DSCN2816
And instead of the white background that is everywhere these days, I used an ecru Kona, which also looks more vintagey, don’t you think?
DSCN2818
And this afternoon, while photographing it out on the deck, Yogi wanted to get into the act, too!!
DSCN2821
He soooo needs to be groomed!!
DSCN2824
I don’t like it when I can’t see his big brown eyes clearly!!
DSCN2825
But he soooo H. A. T. E. S. getting groomed, that I wait as long between appointments!!
DSCN2828
I’ve got all the sashing pieced and trimmed for this month’s Schnibble, Dime Store, so will be working on that tomorrow!!  Really REALLY liking this new design from Carrie!!
DSCN2827
I hope the backing fabric I ordered online for it, comes in really soon!!
Whatcha working on this week??

Back to School!!

I’m talking about my new quilt named “Back to School”, not that I’m going back to school!

DSCN2786

This will be my first fall in 34 years that I’m NOT going back to school!!  YESSSSSS!!

DSCN2781

Love,  LOVE,  L. O. V. E.  being retired!!  Soooo wonderful!!

DSCN2788

But, do want some new school themed quilts to put out every September with all my collected teacher memorabilia.

DSCN2782

This pattern was one of those free flyer patterns given to me  with an online fabric order.

DSCN2783

It was supposed to be made with an autumn themed panel, but I just loved the apples, so I just used a cute vintage school print from Susan Branch for the centers of the blocks where the fall panels were to go.

DSCN2792

Well, The Queen Mother (aka my Handiquilter Sweet 16 Sit Down machine) is not in my little sewing room- it is across the hall in our home office.

DSCN2775

I took Yogi’s bed off my sewing table and brought it in that room… but he does not like it in there on the floor.

DSCN2778

He would rather just lay on the floor in the hall at the top of the stairs.

DSCN2779

I  used some red stash fat quarters to make the apples.

DSCN2790

And some of the many school themed prints for the rest!  And I still have plenty left for a few more quilts!!

DSCN2796

I’m thinking of using my Accuquilt GO! and the tumbler die to make a quilt with the smaller school fabric scraps!

DSCN2797

Isn’t that backing fabric cute??

I’ve got my granny square quilt all pin-basted and ready to quilt…

DSCN2803

but I’m half way done piecing Dime Store - the August Schnibble pattern… so will probably finish the top and then quilt the granny square quilt while I’m waiting for the backing fabric to come in the mail!!

DSCN2802

What sewing are you doing this weekend??  Something fun???

Busy on the Beach!

Of course, you are thinking this means I am on vaca at some beach, right?  Soooo  W R O N G !!!

DSCN2753

I have been busy working on a beach quilt!!  “Sunset Beach”!

DSCN2755

I saw an awesome beach photo online and decided it was just the view I wanted for a wall quilt for my son and his girlfriend’s apartment.

DSCN2756

My oldest son, A.J., just turned 30!!!  Man, am I getting so very OLD!!!

DSCN2759

So, I made him this quilt for the bedroom as their comforter and shams are black!

DSCN2758

I also made 2 reversible batik throw pillows. One side black and bright batik nine patches and

DSCN2769

the other side a really pretty black and orange print batik… so they can use both sides!!

DSCN2771

And I made them a little orange batik fish pillow with fat black rickrack!!

DSCN2773

I think they both liked it all!!  Now, it’s on to making a Back to School apple quilt to put out next month!!

DSCN2762

What are you working  on?

DSCN2765

Yogi’s working on his tan!!  LOL!!
